On October 2 and 6, Guadeloupe la 1ère will broadcast a documentary and concert dedicated to Martinican pianist and jazzman Mario Canonge.

Entitled “Mario Canonge, une vie de musique”, the 52-minute documentary will be broadcast on Monday October 2 at 8:35 pm as part of the “Horizons” program. Directed by Mariette Monpierre and written by Mariette Monpierre and Éric Basset, it will look back at the musical career of Mario Canonge, who has established himself as a benchmark of Creole jazz in Martinique after a 40-year career. Having had no academic musical education, the documentary traces his learning of the piano and his evolution towards professionalism.

On Friday, October 6 at 8.05pm, viewers will be able to discover the “Mario Canonge Trio au Comptoir de Fontenay-sous-Bois” concert, recorded with his band.

Through these two productions, Guadeloupe la 1ère invites you to discover or rediscover the career and talent of this major pianist from Martinique, who has distinguished himself in a variety of musical styles including jazz, salsa and zouk.
